Job Description
Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Data Center Technician with previous cabling experience (Copper/Coax/Fiber) to provide local support for our new build-out in Kent, Washington. The ideal candidate will possess impeccable customer service skills, be adept at troubleshooting facility and customer issues, and exhibit a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Key Qualifications:
- Previous cabling experience (Copper/Coax/Fiber)
- Impeccable customer service skills
- Experience in troubleshooting facility and customer issues
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and manage priorities
- Capable of distinguishing minimal impact from high impact problems with little direction
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Previous experience as a Data Center Technician
- Basic IT knowledge
- Must be flexible with hours; availability during off-hours and Sundays is a must
Pluses:
- Any relevant certifications would be considered a plus
- General knowledge of TCP/IP
- Detailed technical knowledge of PC hardware, operating systems, networks, and communications protocols
Responsibilities:
Maintenance of Data Center Equipment: Regularly inspect and maintain Data Center equipment to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
Running Cables: Install and manage various types of cables including copper and fiber.
Equipment Racking: Rack and install PDU (including temp/humid sensors), network gear, and servers.
Proactive Monitoring: Monitor all production systems proactively, providing remote hands support when required.
Asset Management: Create and maintain a cohesive and accurate Data Center hardware map, including asset management for all ancillary hardware.
Troubleshooting and Support: Provide first-level troubleshooting and support services for client servers and network devices. Correct and route/escalate issues when necessary.
Database Maintenance: Update and maintain company databases with accurate and current information.
Hardware RMA Processing: Process all hardware Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs).
Ticketing System Management: Work efficiently with the corporate ticketing system to manage and resolve issues.
Documentation Maintenance: Regularly update and maintain documentation related to Data Center operations and equipment.
Machine Deployment Assistance: Assist with the deployment of machines, including unboxing and racking.
