Position Purpose
Directs the Financial activities of the facility by monitoring and reporting financial data to the Administrator and the Human Services Board
- ❖ Must have a bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four year college or university in Accounting or Business Administration
- ❖ Must have advanced system knowledge of Financial Accounting, Payroll Software, Excel, Word, and Outlook programs
- ❖ Have good analytical, problem, and communication skills
- ❖ Preferred prior Management experience
- ❖ Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- ❖ Must be able to read, follow oral directions and write legibly
- ❖ Must be honest, trustworthy and possess tolerance for all individuals
- ❖ Must be able to communicate with other departments
- ❖ Must have good physical and mental health. You will fill out an employee health history
- ❖ Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
- ❖ Must be able to work with little or no supervision
- ❖ Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, governmentagencies/personnel and the public
- ❖ Must possess leadership, supervisory ability, and willingness to work harmoniously with and superviseother personnel
- ❖ Must be able to handle multiple tasks with interruptions
- ❖ Must have a pleasant personality and good telephone skills Major Duties and Responsibilities
- ❖ Plan, develop, organize, and implement the facility’s accounting functions
- ❖ Continually monitor all accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls for compliance with GASB (Governmental Accounting Standards Board)
- ❖ Maintain the general ledger system to include the preparation of journal entries, monthly financialstatements, and all monthly reporting to reflect the facility’s financial status
- ❖ Monitor and assist with collection of account receivables
- ❖ Oversee the bi-weekly payroll system to ensure the accuracy of payroll
- ❖ Communicate with payroll software company regarding updates and changes that need to be applied
- ❖ Prepare and maintain the yearly/monthly budget and notify departments when spending exceeds thebudgeted amounts
- ❖ Prepare all Board Meeting reports for the monthly Board Meeting for management and the HumanServices Board
- ❖ Answer questions related to financial matters during the board meeting
- ❖ Prepare data yearly for our Audit firm for them to prepare the Yearly Cost Report
- ❖ Maintain and oversee all Fixed Asset requests and transactions
- ❖ Work with Auditors during the Year End audit and prepare all schedules requested
- ❖ Coordinate with the Treasurer’s office regarding all cash transaction issues between the facility and the county
- ❖ Maintain and balance all bank cash accounts monthly; check all check numbers and verify all transactions to detect fraud
- ❖ Prepare account reconciliations monthly for all balance sheet accounts. Have Administrator look over account reconciliations and approve them Physical Requirements/Risk Exposure
- ❖ Push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform overhead lifting and other common physical movements as needed for the position
- ❖ Tasks assigned to this position involve potential and/or direct exposure to blood or body fluids Staff Development❖ Attend and participate in scheduled training and educational classes, as required
- ❖ Attend and complete monthly mandatory in-services and online education assignments ❖ Serve on other committees as assigned
