Journeyman Carpenter

Position TitleJourneyman Carpenter

LOOKING FOR EXPERIENCED CARPENTERS who have the ability to do it all! We are NOT looking for Laborers or people looking to expand their skills at this time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Involves the operation of small equipment and tools including saws, drills, hammers etc.
• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements
• Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
• Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials and pre-constructed items
• Certified to operate large equipment as needed, i.e. forklift, backhoe, excavator
• Lay out floorings, roofing or drywalls ensuring they are leveled and compatible
• Inspect work and redo when necessary making sure everything is completed with top quality
• Provide guidance and supervision for apprentice carpenters and laborers
• Participates actively as a key member of the team
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written
• Maintain a clean and safe work
• Have a good sense of judgement

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Environment

• Indoor/outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures exceeding 90 degrees at times.
• Regular exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises.
• Driving a vehicle to conduct work.
• May be exposed to heights, and loud noises.
• Work in direct contact with public.
• Working on ladders at varying heights.

Physical Demands

• Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner.
• Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments.
• Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment.
• Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
• Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Climbing ladders and working from heights as necessary.

Hazards

• Working with tools and powered machinery.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
