Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm

Job Summary:

UPS Airlines is one of the largest international cargo airlines in the world servicing over 800 destinations worldwide. We are a Customer First, People Led, Innovation Driven company. We offer opportunities for both Experienced and Entry Level Aircraft Engineers. Candidates will work primarily in an office environment with opportunities to travel and offer worldwide engineering support. Examples include assignments with aircraft maintenance facilities and other locations as required to support project activity. UPS Aircraft Engineers regularly interface with Boeing, Airbus, various component manufacturers, repair & overhaul facilities, and other outside agencies.

The Fleet Reliability and Maintenance Program Engineer ensures aircraft fleet reliability and regulatory Maintenance Programs with the highest levels of safety. He/She develops, manages, and evaluates economically-sound aircraft fleet Maintenance Programs. This position identifies and analyzes fleet reliability issues and collaborates with internal and external groups to provide resolutions. He/She represents UPS’s aircraft fleet operational issues with external parties. This position supervises Fleet Reliability and Maintenance Program Analysts and editors.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyze aircraft and reliability data (e.g., from internal reports, FAA, industry groups, manufacturers, etc.) to identify reliability and safety issues, trends, and problem root causes and to understand operational impacts.

  • Collaborate with internal Airline division groups (e.g., Engineering, etc.) to develop resolutions and project plans (e.g., addressing current issues, improving reliability and compliance, supporting operational efficiencies, controlling cost, etc.).

  • Evaluation of project implementations and results to determine levels of effectiveness and efficiency according to project objectives will also be expected.

  • Prepare reliability reports, respond to ad hoc requests, evaluate balanced scorecard performance, and participate in planning meetings to support departmental and operational objectives.

  • Provide data and recommended improvements and problem solutions to aircraft manufacturers to support development of industry forum agenda items.

Additional responsibilities will include participation in industry steering committees, meetings, and technical forums to represent UPS’s interests regarding fleet reliability initiatives. Similarly, participation in industry (e.g., other airline carriers, manufacturers, etc.) forums to develop solutions for reliability issues and problems and support industry standardizations and technological efficiencies will also be expected.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Have excellent communication skills (written and oral), conflict resolution skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Must possess good customer service skills including decision making, multi-tasking, organizational skills, and can work in a team environment.

  • Must be customer focused and detail oriented.

  • Must be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of the aircraft systems and structure and be familiar with appropriate tools and parts needed for the maintenance and repair of airframe and components.

Preferred Skills:

  • A degree in a Mechanical, Aerospace, or other equivalent engineering is a plus.

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant license.

  • Intermediate level Microsoft software knowledge also desired.

Interpersonal Skills:

Have the ability to handle stressful situations and be able to work with little direct supervision. Must be dependable, flexible, open-minded and willing to learn and grow with the department. Is able to project confidence in the course of their duties. Highly motivated, positive and persistent team player who enjoys continuous learning.

Additional Notes:

Some travel required for Industry meetings and Maintenance visits. Drug Screen required at initial hire and Safety Pool.

Federal Aviation Administration required Drug Testing Information (FAA):

As part of the UPS pre-employment process for a safety sensitive position, a drug screen is required. UPS must receive a negative test result before you can be put into a safety sensitive position (14 CFR Part 120.107).
