Job Purpose and Overview
The Director of Procurement Packaging, Indirect Spend, and Utilities leads the North American Non-Food procurement area and works collaboratively with various stakeholder groups across multiple business units (including Packaging Engineering, R&D, Technical Services, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Marketing) to create and implement strategic sourcing strategies, process improvements, and expand the number of categories.
This role will provide procurement leadership, support, and expertise in the areas of supplier negotiations and contract development for North America, as well as being an effective people leader and coach for a team of 3-4 Direct reports supporting the Packaging, Indirect Spend, and Utilities categories. In addition to supporting functional initiatives from a procurement perspective, you will also act as a project leader for cost-saving initiatives on behalf of the organization and target annualized value-generation opportunities through leveraging opportunities and managing risk.
This is a hybrid position with the requirement to be on-site at our Jackson, MI home office for a minimum of 3 days per month with a travel commitment of up to 30%.
What You’ll Do as a Director of Procurement Packaging, Indirect Spend, and Utilities at Dawn Foods?
- Lead supplier relationship management, strategy, and value generation while delivering supply assurance for NA non-food spending (indirect, packaging, and utilities).
- Drive procurement cost-saving initiatives through strategic sourcing, negotiation, and packaging optimization. Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and direction in the professional development of direct and indirect reports.
- Provide Guidance and support for direct report team members on strategy development, risk mitigation, and career development.
- Work collaboratively with business partners (Operations, Finance/Treasury, Marketing, IT, engineering, etc.) on strategies, sourcing events, & cost-reduction opportunities.
- Supports senior leadership team members. Maintains a high level of professionalism while supporting the organization. Demonstrates an understanding of business needs and requirements.
- Works in partnership with key stakeholders to ensure their requirements are being met by contracted suppliers, contingency plans exist, and additional sourcing opportunities are presented.
- Develop and implement processes and resources to reduce risk and promote centralized programs.
- Understand and promote the philosophies and policies of Dawn Food Products, Inc. supporting the Circle of Excellence.

What Does It Take to be a Director of Procurement Packaging, Indirect Spend and Utilies at Dawn Foods?
Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or related degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
- 15 years’ experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or related field
- Demonstrated leadership experience in Procurement, Manufacturing Operations, or Finance.
- History of delivering results, including bottom-line savings, while collaborating across multiple disciplines (R&D, Marketing, IT, Finance) and business units within a large organization
- Strong communication and negotiating skills; delivers persuasive presentations both verbally and written.
- Desire to be a supportive and proactive business partner across the organization.

Compensation Range:
$118,730- $201,850 with bonus incentive
