Job Overview:
- Pay: $50,000 annualized salary, non-exempt
- Work Schedule: 35 hours per week; typical hours Monday - Friday from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

- Location: Hybrid; flexibility to work some days remotely, and some days onsite in the Lower East Side.
Program Overview:
The purpose of the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is to provide New York City youth with summer employment and educational experiences that build on their individual strengths and incorporate youth development principles. These principles include engaging the talents and interests of youth, developing their skills and competencies, and providing positive adult role models.
Job Summary:
As the SYEP Youth Job Developer, you will recruit suitable worksite placements for youth ages 16-24 years old. Your mission will be to secure worksite placements that provide real-world experience in varying fields while simultaneously providing our youth with mentorship and guidance. This is a community-based position servicing the families of the Lower East Side and other New Yorkers. The agency’s Summer Youth Employment Program works with youth ages 14-24 to provide project-based or traditional work experiences throughout 6 weeks in the summer. The SYEP Youth Job Developer will have the opportunity to form professional relationships with NYC employers of varying industries, to provide youth meaningful employment and mentoring opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or HS Diploma with at least 2+ years’ relevant experience in internship/job development, business-to-business relations, recruitment, sales, marketing, or fundraising.
- Previous experience working with a Youth Employment Program, or the Department of Youth and Community Development preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Ability to multi-task and make short deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, networking, and transactional skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel independently throughout NYC via public transportation (Metro Card provided for work travel)
Responsibilities:
- Develop 6-week internship opportunities for youth ages 16-24 years old in varying worksite sectors.
- Visit potential worksites to meet with the leadership team and pitch SYEP partnerships.
- Conduct cold calls to potential worksites identified in target areas.
- Demonstrate to employers the effectiveness and profitability of employing SYEP youth.
- Assist employers in completing all DYCD paperwork required to become an official worksite partner.
- Facilitate worksite orientation for new and returning worksite partners.
- Assist with orientation for site monitors to ensure an efficient handoff of partnerships.
- Provide mock interviews and preparation for participants during worksite assignments.
- Provide ongoing retention services and support to both employer and youth throughout the program duration.
- Administrative duties such as application data entry, worksite file creation, and maintenance of online trackers.
