Job DescriptionThe Jayhawk Welcome Center Assistant represents KU by being the first person guests interact with, and through answering questions and conversing with future Jayhawks. Other duties include assisting Admissions staff, serving as a key facilitator in the check in process for prospective students and families, upkeep of front desk space and supplies, and directing visitors to appointments. Other duties as assigned and at the direction of the Assistant Director of Campus Visits, Graduate Assistants, and Office of Admissions Staff.Required Qualifications
- Current enrollment as a KU Student, cumulative GPA of 2.5+.
- Must be currently employed as a KU Ambassador in the Office of Admissions
- Excellent customer service skills to greet and guide prospective students, Alumni and other visitors to the University as evident of the application material
- Able to multitask leading desk operations for the Jayhawk Welcome Center as evident of the application material. This includes visit materials preparation, refreshment preparation and presentation set up as needed.
- Must have good written and oral communication skills as evidenced by application materials.
- Understanding and comfortable with technology
- During the semester term of the appointment, the Student Hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours.
- Flexible schedule, dependable, adaptable to change, and outgoing personality
- Previous experience in customer service and ability to work in a changing and dynamic work setting
- Involvement in one or more on campus student organizations
- Open to work with diverse groups
- Enthusiasm to positively represent the University of Kansas to on campus visitors
- Knowledge of University of Kansas programs and services
- Well organized and good time management skills
