Janitor / Maintenance Manager

Job Title: Janitor / Maintenance Manager

Location: Little Giant Learning Academy - Riverview, FL

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain buildings and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of facilities
• Perform minor fixes, such as repairing broken locks, damage to walls, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical.
• Install necessary appliances and equipment as needed
• Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues
• Maintain all vendor relationships and complete inspections
• Inspect and troubleshoot various equipment and systems
• Test the functionality of the facility's safety systems
• Collaborate with a team of workers, the Center Director and other professionals during renovations, project repairs, and facility expansions
• Ensure all activities conform to company safety and policy guidelines
• Communicates effectively with all members of the building/ grounds team, supervisors, and administration
• Report to Center Director regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress
• Order supplies, keeping in mind quality and cost and in accordance with company policy
• Maintain a supply list and update regularly through company computer/cloud system
• Basic understanding of maintenance and/or project software
• Maintain a maintenance repair calendar
• Provide guidance and oversight to any maintenance/repair vendors
• Other maintenance and repair duties as assigned by supervisor
• Coordinate fire, health and safety inspections

• Ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment
• Excellent prioritization skills for maintenance repairs
• Ability to manage multiple maintenance work orders and projects simultaneously
• Understanding of MSDS safety sheets
• Reacts to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned
• Proactive and team-oriented attitude to create a successful team environment
• Written and verbal communication skills that always reflects professionalism and tact
• Ability to maintain a professional, productive, and positive environment with employees, parents, and children
• Ability to appropriately operate all equipment and machinery as necessary
• Lifting in excess of forty (40) pounds on frequent basis

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in trades desirable.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Proven experience as a maintenance repair worker or other similar position.
• Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
• Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools
• Ability to read and utilize technical manuals and drawings
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• General passion for creative problem-solving
• Ability to pass a Level II background screening.
• Computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite, including outlook
