Job Description
As a Traffic or ITS Engineer, you must be able to work both independently and in a collaborative environment. Your primary focus will pertain to DOT and municipal roadway improvement projects.
Your Primary Responsibilities will include
Emerging mobility technology solutions – Aid in the evaluation, preparation, and deployment of TSM&O/ ITS strategies such as Connected Automated Vehicle technology, Adaptive Signal Control Technology, Real-time Travel Time Systems, and the like.
- Perform design calculations, quantity estimates, and check calculations and drawings.
- Develop Concept of Operations (ConOps) and other Systems Engineering documentation.
- Develop technical documents including, but not limited to feasibility studies, concept reports, concept plans, and test plans.
- Develop request for proposal (RFP) and scope documentation which include technical, functional, and design requirements for ITS projects to be procured by client agencies.
- Perform ITS analysis and prepare design - project plans, specifications, and estimates for various ITS components for fiber optic or wireless communications, CCTV cameras, detectors, DMS, video wall, and other ITS/Technology devices.
- Review design plans, specifications, shop drawings, and other technical documentation developed by others and provide comments regarding conformance to design standards, codes, and specifications.
- Support traffic signal design and highway lighting projects.
- Perform Signalization and ITS field reviews, troubleshooting, maintenance, management, data collection, and analysis.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- PE Registration (preferred) or ability to obtain
- IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level II (preferred)
- 4-10 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of MicroStation (required) and Synchro (preferred)
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
