Under general direction, lead and support the ITS performing skilled work in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of traffic signals and other Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices.
DUTIES:
- Perform the maintenance function for traffic signal controllers and cabinets, and perform basic troubleshooting of both wiring problems in cabinets as well as underground
- Understand and program video detection systems; install knockdown temporary/permanent replacement poles, signal heads, ISNS, street lighting and/or combination of these items
- Troubleshoot and repair wiring problems in the street, up to and including the replacement of conductors in conduit; test and splice loop detectors in the street
- Assist in the training of new technicians; perform all job functions of Maintenance Technician and Maintenance Technician Trainee
- Perform all job functions of Utility Technician and any other assignments as requested
- Scheduling of subcontractors for foundation replacements and conduit installations
- Serves as a proactive customer service & quality ambassador of The Econolite Group, Inc. by representing the organization in a positive, professional manner to support The Brand Promise
- Performs other duties as required and assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five (5) years of related experience
- Electrician License preferred
- IMSA Level II, IMSA Level III, and IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector preferred
- Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations
- Knowledge of tools, equipment, practices, and methods used in installing, maintaining, and repairing traffic signals, ITS devices and associated equipment
- Knowledge of principles and practices of traffic control guidelines, both state and local
- Video Detection configuration, troubleshooting and repair experience
- Knowledge of Fiber cable and networking equipment, Fiber training preferred
- Knowledge of pre-emption system installation, maintenance and testing.
- Ability to interpret design schematics, site plans, maps, and engineering drawings
- Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations regarding electronics
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair data communication equipment and cable
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair problems inherent to traffic signals and other ITS equipment
- Ability to wire and connect cables necessary for operation of signalized intersections
- Installs and removes network devices
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Pass all necessary background/pre-employment checks
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable DMV record
- Ability to exert moderate physical effort, typically involving, some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 50 pounds.)
