Form of workStarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is the state designated Local Authority for mental health and intellectual disabilities for Lubbock, Lynn, Hockley, Cochran and Crosby Counties and the Local Authority for substance use disorders for 41 counties in the West Texas region. StarCare is also a Texas Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) and provides adult inpatient psychiatric services at Sunrise Canyon Hospital. StarCare is in search of a qualified System Support Specialist. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of IT Infrastructure with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Responsibilities include:
- Answer help desk calls and trouble shoot requests for assistance from MIS Department.
- Provide end-user training via telephone to assist with problems encountered using technology.
- Maintain request for repair/work order database.
- Install new computers and peripherals.
- Assist in maintaining network security and access, antivirus software, server logs, incidents.
- Assign, track and maintain inventory of all computers and peripheral equipment.
- Perform backups and archival of files on Center’s data systems.
- Required to carry on call phone one weekend a month.
This position ensures all activities support the vision, mission and values of StarCare Specialty Health System.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of network facilities and data processing techniques, of personal computer hardware and software and network operating systems and security software.
- Ability to recognize, analyze and resolve routine to complicated PC hardware and software problems.
- Knowledge of human service delivery systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to organize, prioritize a variety of assignments and manage time effectively.
- Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with other employees and the public.
- Skill in operating standard office machines and/or computer software.
Hours: 8:00 am- 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with flexibility to meet department needs.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, or a related field with major course work in Management Information Systems or related computer studies field.
- At least two (2) years of full-time paid work experience in a related field.
- Experience and education may be substituted (30 hours of college equals one year of experience).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem resolution skills are required.
- Must be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal and analytical skills and work independently and in a team environment.
- May require travel within Lubbock using personal vehicle. Mileage reimbursement is provided according to Company guidelines.
- Must have current Texas driver’s license and be insurable under Company insurance.
