Position Summary:
The Project Manager manages all aspects of complex projects from inception to conclusion. He/she is responsible for identifying key resources and providing the direction required for meeting the project objectives. He/she is also responsible for ensuring appropriate management, customer and developer involvement throughout the life of the project.
Qualifications and skills of the Project Manager include an ability to lead and motivate people and encourage teamwork, an ability to communicate effectively with senior management, and a clear vision of what determines a successful product for the customer and for the company. In addition, the Project Manager must have a technical background sufficient to understand the technologies and technical issues involved with the project, to be able to anticipate and identify critical technical obstacles, and to make accurate technology decisions.
The Project Manager also must be able to manage project schedule and task details and utilize project management tools such as reports, tracking charts, and project scheduling software and to delegate appropriately. He/she must be able to manage change and take active leadership in timely decision making.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
- As the point of contact on assigned projects, performs a variety of highly skilled duties such as: assembling, coordinating and managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Facilitates and troubleshoots various problems associated with developing complex systems or with coordinating multidisciplinary projects.
- Provides highly skilled technical and management advice and assistance to department management and personnel.
- Establish and publish clear priorities among project activities.
- Expertise in IT Applications and their related business functions, leading several related projects and overseeing project-level activity to ensure project goals are met. Identify and manage cross-project dependencies as well as the risk, issues, requirements, design or solutions.
- Coordinate and prioritize resources across projects, managing links between the projects and the overall costs and risks of the program.
- Respond to inquiries about projects.
- Chair various project review and pre-submittal meetings. Keep all stakeholders informed of progress and issues.
- Manage change to preserve business plan commitments. Initiate Phase Review if objectives must change.
- Assure that all team members understand their roles and accept their responsibilities.
- Negotiate the performance of activities with team members and their managers. Arbitrate and resolve conflict and interface problems within the project.
Experience, Competencies, and Education:
- 5+ Years serving in a Project Management role.
- PMP Certification a plus
- 5+ years experience working in an ERP Environment
- BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Strong written and oral communication skills, ability to communicate with all levels of employees.
- Functional and technical knowledge in Financial and Supply chain.
- Experience in Sage X3 and / or large-scale ERP implementations a plus
