POSITION SUMMARY

Network Analyst will receive training in and perform professional duties related to analysis, development, maintenance, and administration of computer hardware and software systems to meet business needs. Perform any of the following functions: monitor and administer servers and related platforms, maintain, configure and monitor network and/or telecommunications infrastructures and related system components, consult with departmental customers to identify and analyze business functions that can be improved by the implementation of new hardware or software solutions, translate business requirements into system deployments, perform professional-level systems maintenance and customer support duties, and program with object-oriented languages.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties may include but are not limited to:

  1. Analyzes, plans, determines requirements, designs, builds, customizes, tests, implements, maintains and/or enhances a variety of hardware and software systems.
  2. Provides professional customer support for system-related software and/or hardware issues, needs, or requirements. Interacts with clients to analyze system requirements; recommends technology solutions to improve operations.
  3. Prepares technical documentations, procedural plans, reports, correspondence and other documents; participates on committees and task forces; attends meetings, conferences and training sessions.
  4. Administers a departmental Local Area Network (LAN); monitors and adds users; installs and configures software; coordinates connectivity with the County Wide Area Network (WAN).
  5. Designs, configures and installs network infrastructure, including wireless equipment, hubs, switches, cabling, and peripherals.
  6. Monitors network traffic, performance and security; identifies and resolves security issues; checks logs to detect intruders; ensures that network infrastructure for disaster recovery is adequate; provides recommendations for improved network performance and security.
  7. Investigates, analyzes and resolves network problems; troubleshoots failures and implements solutions.
  8. Evaluates and implements network upgrades; tests hardware and software to ensure optimal functionality.
  9. Performs other job related duties as required or assigned.

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, and zero (0) years of work experience working under immediate supervision while learning job tasks, progressing to direction as the procedures and processes of the assigned areas of responsibilities are learned. Any equivalent combination related to education and/or experience totaling four (4) years may be considered for the above requirements.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

The offer of this Bernalillo County position requires compliance with the following:

  1. Employee must successfully complete the post-offer employment medical examination and background investigation.
  2. Employee must comply with the safety guidelines of the County.
  3. Employee must complete required FEMA training(s) as assigned to position.
  4. Depending on assignment, some positions in this classification may require possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license by employment date and maintain while employed in this position.
  5. Provides after hours technology support as assigned.
  6. Occasional evening, holiday and/or weekend work may be required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Work is typically performed in an indoor office environment, but occasionally requires travel to other locations.
  2. Work environments may include noise, dust and/or unpleasant odors, and may occasionally require work in confined spaces.
