Structural Engineer - FEMA PA

FEMA PA Structural Engineers work closely with FEMA and local government officials to provide supplemental disaster grant assistance for the repair, replacement, and restoration of disaster-damaged, public owned facilities. Responsibilities may include site damage inspections, cost estimates, scope of work development, exploratory calls and recovery scoping meetings, project reviews and validation, review and determination of hazard mitigation requirements, and environmental & historic preservation reviews and guidance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in your field.

- Experience working on commercial and publicly-owned facilities such as roads, bridges, water/wastewater treatment facilities, commercial, educational, and municipal buildings and facilities, utilities, parks, and beaches.

- Must be willing to complete an extensive federal background investigation and obtain required FEMA security clearance (which requires US Citizenship).

- Professional licenses and certifications are a strong plus (such as P.E. license, PMP, etc.).

- Previous FEMA Public Assistance (PA) experience is a strong plus, but not required

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Strong computer skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) Adobe Pro, and general skill using technology such as smartphones and the internet

- Must be able to withstand the physical requirements of the position, including site visits in austere locations with rugged terrain, extended periods of sun/heat exposure; in essence, physically demanding conditions.

- Must be team player and able to work well with others in less-than-optimal conditions in the pursuit of accomplishing program objectives.

Some positions may require travel to an assignment with only 48 - 72 hours’ notice.  Interested individuals should be prepared to be responsive to communications, provide regular availability updates, complete required training, and fulfil deployment commitments.

- Must be willing to work on short-term assignments (6 months to 1 year) in any location in the United States.

- Must be willing to work long hours (50 hours+) and extended work weeks when required

Compensation for these positions is based on experience, background, and skills. Travel & lodging expenses are reimbursed according to rates published in GSA.gov.
