Our network of 101 food pantries, affordable housing sites, and JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York City.
Position Summary:
The IT Manager is responsible for the installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of Met Council hardware, software, and related infrastructure at all Met Council sites throughout the five boroughs of NYC. The IT Manager will also manage technology help desk tickets providing a high level of customer service by ensuring tickets are prioritized.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Perform daily health monitoring of Met Council's IT systems, diagnose technical issues, conduct research, and implement upgrades.
- Ensure all Met Council hardware, operating systems, software, and related procedures adhere to organizational standards, values, and strategic plan.
- Work with team members, project teams, and other departments to expand or implement new systems that meet organizational needs.
- Manage technology help desk tickets ensuring a high level of customer service, ticket prioritization, and timely completion.
- Engineer server solutions meeting Met Council organizational needs and strategic plan.
- Deploy, configure, maintain, and administer new and existing servers, databases, storage, and backups.
- Collaborate with team members on the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures and the transfer of knowledge regarding Met Council IT systems.
- Perform daily server integrity checks, system and application log reviews, and verifications of scheduled job completion (backups, etc.).
- Test and apply OS, security patches, and system upgrades as needed.
- Create, change, and remove users, mailboxes, and other resources as requested.
- Perform regular backup operations and testing.
- Provide support per request from various constituencies including after-hours support.
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Report and communicate with stakeholders and management.
- Perform periodic performance and capacity tests and submit results to management.
- Maintain server and application inventory and manage corresponding licenses.
- Additional responsibilities as required.

Skill and Education:
- Associate's degree (required), Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (preferred)
- 3 – 5 years experience with Windows System Administration (required)
- Experience in troubleshooting and analyzing of IT related problems
- Experience with the implementation of information technology integrations in a large organization with multiple sites
- Management experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to initiate, prioritize, and complete tasks in a high-pressure environment with minimal supervision
- Must exhibit intelligence and flexibility in the face of diverse challenges and situations
Physical Demands:
- Required Constantly: walking, sitting, grasping, bending, stooping, squatting, computer input, finger dexterity and coordination of hand, eye and foot.
- Required Frequently: Standing and climbing stairs; carrying laptop & computers (approx.10-25 lbs).
- Required Occasionally: Reaching above the shoulder, and lifting 5-25 pounds, pushing and pulling.
Special Requirements:
- Willingness to travel to remote Met Council sites throughout the five boroughs of New York City.
Compensation: $70,000 to $85,000 per year.
