POSITION SUMMARY
The Business Systems Specialist promotes the Museum’s mission and core values by providing an elevated level of customer service to guests, program participants, members and employees. The Business Systems Specialist works closely with the Guest Experience Team to ensure accuracy with our ticketing system and push towards Data Health. This position also serves as employees’ point of contact for IT information and resolution and provides support in Administrative and front-of-house software and hardware.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
. Data Health Responsibilities
- Data Validation and Verification:: Our Business Systems Specialist meticulously update, correct, and cleanse data, using automated tools and manual processes. Collaborating with the Data and Business Systems Analyst and Business Systems Director, they establish validation processes to ensure new data meets defined criteria and conduct regular audits for accuracy, maintaining the highest standards in data quality.
- Admission Ticket Creation: Batch create routine purchasable performances in Tessitura. Send to Manager/Analyst for review and push live for sale
- Update requests go to Manager level
- Data Governance: They contribute to the development and implementation of data governance policies and procedures. This includes defining data quality standards, data ownership, and data stewardship responsibilities.
- Data Documentation: They help maintain documentation about data sources, transformations, and quality rules. This documentation helps ensure transparency and understanding of data quality processes.
- Collaboration: Data Health & IT Specialists work closely with data owners, data stewards, IT teams, and business units across the organization to address data quality issues. They collaborate to resolve problems and assist with data improvement initiatives.
- Data Privacy and Security: They assist the manager/analyst and director to ensure that data quality processes align with data privacy and security regulations, working with the Information Systems Manager and Business Systems Director. This includes following processes for safeguarding sensitive information and ensuring data compliance.
IT Responsibilities
- Onsite & Remote Technical Support: Provide basic technical support to end-users, both onsite and those working remotely. Support may include troubleshooting hardware and software issues, assisting with login problems, and guiding users through basic technical procedures. Diagnose and resolve simple technical issues, escalating more complex problems to senior IT staff.
- FOH support: onsite initial troubleshooting
- Help Desk Operations: Assist with monitoring and communicating about IT/support ticketing issues, supporting or escalating as appropriate to address technical support requests from employees or customers.
- Hardware and Software Setup & Maintenance: Assist in setting up and configuring computer hardware, peripherals, and software applications for new employees, changes in teams or office configuration, or as part of routine maintenance, including diagnosing, replacing, and storing components as needed.
- User Training: Assist with basic training to users on how to use software applications, hardware devices, and other IT tools effectively.
- Documentation: Contribute to maintaining documentation of IT processes, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
- Security Assistance: Assist in enforcing basic cybersecurity measures, such as password policies, VPN usage, and data access controls.
- System Monitoring: Help monitor the organization's systems and networks for performance issues or anomalies and report them to senior IT staff.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Schedule and availability reflects the organization is a 7-day a week operation and many require nights or weekend work. This position is largely Monday through Friday 9-5 pm with flexibility. Periodic duties outside of regular work week schedule, particularly during seasonal high-volume times.
- Periodic support and programmatic duties in other museum areas.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or GED required, some college experience is preferred.
- 1+ years of customer service experience, preferably involving reservations and answering phones.
- Spanish fluency preferred.
- Proficiency working with Tessitura (or other databases) and Point of Sale Systems
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position is largely stationary. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:
- Observe and react to the needs of guests, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners
- Move throughout the museum when on-site
- Occasionally manipulate and move office supplies and equipment components weighing up to 15 pounds, including those that may be low to the ground or above eye level
- Communicate and exchange accurate information with guests, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners in a variety of formats including in-person, electronically, and over the phone
- Detect and respond to safety hazards
- Operate standard office equipment efficiently and accurately.
