IT Application Administrator - Student Services
A terrific opportunity to work remotely, work on campus, or a hybrid.

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for managing a diverse set of IT applications that support university activities. These applications include, but are not limited to, the campus identification card system, housing management software and recreation management system. Duties within these systems including application management, configuration, coding, scripting, data reporting, integration monitoring and application-side support of various hardware devices associated with the systems, e.g., ID card printers, door access and dining point-of-sale systems. Duties also include working with campus food service contractors, Residence Life, Facilities Services, Security and other university staff to ensure services are working properly, making changes and implementing new services as necessary. Duties and compensation vary depending on if the position is filled remotely or in person. Remote positions may be asked to visit campus for onboarding and/or special events.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  • Manage housing management system (StarRez, cloud), including;

  • Database and application upgrades
  • Manage integration with ERP (Workday)
  • Create and manage reports
  • Configuration and development to support business needs
  • Use StarQL to maintain PortalX, data subscriptions, forms, workflows, email templates and reports.

  • Manage the campus ID card system (Transact, on prem), including;

  • Database and application upgrades
  • Manage integration with ERP (Workday)
  • Meal plan management
  • Database and application upgrades
  • Student web portal
  • Support POS devices
  • Configuration to support business needs

  • Manage recreation management system (Innosoft Fusion, cloud)

  • Manage integration with ERP (Workday)
  • Configuration to support business needs

  • Support additional applications as resources allow
  • Manage projects within area of responsibility
  • Work with on-campus staff to support associated hardware devices
  • Some on-call and after-hours work required during peak times
  • NOTE: If filled in person, on campus, the position will also include a hardware support component (door access hardware, point-of-sale devices and ID card production).

SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE include the following.
  • Ability to manage systems listed under Duties and Responsibilities or similar
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders with all levels of technical ability
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Work effectively independently
  • Ability to constantly update skills and knowledge

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM field.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends to support special events

DESIRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Previous direct experience with Campus Transact ID Card system, StarRez and Innosoft Fusion, Handshake, TMA, Workday, or other applications in use by Western.
  • Experience working in a customer facing position in higher education
  • Scripting and/or basic programming (SQL Plus, PowerShell, etc.) or similar

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full-time administrative appointment.
  • COMPENSATION:

  • ON CAMPUS or HYBRID: $55,000 to $60,000 annually -or-
  • REMOTE: $50,000 to $55,000 annually
  • Full benefits package.
  • After one year of employment, self and dependents qualify for tuition waivers to attend Western.
