Job Description

Background

The Mintz Group is seeking inquisitive, detail-oriented and highly motivated investigators based in DC, New York and San Francisco. (We will also consider candidates based in Los Angeles, San Diego or the Denver area to work remotely and be tethered to our San Francisco office). As an investigator, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth research on companies and individuals across the world to help clients uncover legal, regulatory and reputational risks. You will join a team of bright, curious and collaborative investigators who speak more than 30 languages, working out of our offices around the world.

The Role

  • Conduct due diligence research on people and companies around the world to assist clients in hiring and investment decisions;
  • Dig into public records and data repositories, from complex litigation records and securities disclosures to corporate filings and property records;
  • Analyze and distill findings into comprehensive written reports for clients;
  • Brief case managers and partners on findings in a clear and professional manner;
  • Possibly conduct other types of investigations, such as research to support litigators and compliance professionals.

About You

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university; advanced degree a plus;
  • Ability to analyze, summarize and communicate large amounts of complex information in a concise and compelling manner;
  • Strong research and writing skills, and superior attention to detail;
  • Ability to juggle casework and meet strict, often overlapping, deadlines;
  • Sophisticated knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Word and Excel);
  • English fluency and strong writing skills in English mandatory.

Additional Nice-to-Haves

  • 1 - 3 years prior work/internship experience in research, journalism, law or finance;
  • Working proficiency in another language desired;
  • Experience with public records, research databases (for example, Westlaw, Nexis or Accurint), open source research and/or interviewing.

About Us

The Mintz Group is an investigative services firm that gathers hidden business facts all over the world for corporations, law firms, financial institutions and non-profit organizations. We uncover the critical facts our clients need:

  • Before Relationships, including business deals and executive hires, we conduct due diligence investigations into the backgrounds and reputations of companies and their executives;
  • During Disputes we find admissible evidence that law firms and in-house counsel need to prevail, whether in court or at the negotiating table; and
  • After Frauds we connect the dots by finding out what happened, how it happened and who did it.

We offer a competitive industry salary, bonus, superior benefits, travel opportunities, and other perks. The Mintz Group offers a robust training and mentoring program and we are proud of our commitment to each teammate’s professional development.
