Position Summary:
The Internet Investigator supports the Online Seller Enforcement group focusing on research and investigation of online sellers and websites for the purposes of identifying associated individuals and businesses. This position will support numerous attorneys in identifying unauthorized online sellers, while working in a fast-paced and growing practice area. At this time, candidates who would work in the following states will not be considered for this role: VT, RI, NY, NJ, NH, MI, ME, MA, DE, CO, CT, CA, and AZ.
Essential Functions:
- Research and investigate to identify targeted online sellers on websites and online marketplaces using various investigation techniques: OSINT, databases, social media and marketplace information.
- Review and evaluate information from clients and others.
- Prepare seller identification summaries and communicate with attorneys regarding findings. Advise attorneys on possible strategic opportunities or targets in support of client enforcement activities.
- Input identification information into various spreadsheets and databases.
- Work with attorneys to establish procedures and protocols for the investigative process and internet enforcement program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of the internet, web hosting, and website operation
- Familiarity with technological tools to conduct internet research in an evidentiary sound manner
- Solid research skills and ability manage multiple details and prioritize
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficient in social media and other online platforms
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in related discipline or combination of equivalent education and experience.
- 1 - 3 years of experience in similar field.
- Prior investigation experience preferred.
