Job Description

The New York Times Washington Bureau is looking for an investigative editor to join the team.
The New York Times is looking for an editor in Washington to manage and edit a wide range of stories on government accountability, foreign influence, lobbying, financial irregularities, election interference and more. The editor should be able to turn around quick exclusives as well as long-form narratives and be able to lead a group of top reporters and collaborate with other editors and departments in the newsroom. The editor should be comfortable with data, visual storytelling, audio and video. The editor should have a firm hand, compassion, the ability to work under pressure, a sense of humor and the highest journalistic standards.
Basic qualifications: At least 5 years as an editor focused on investigations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A willingness to collaborate and the ability to partner with colleagues across The New York Times newsroom.
  • Digital-media savvy.
  • A dedication to The Times and its journalistic mission.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
The annual base pay salary for this role is between $175,000.00 and $195,000.00.
