About the Job: We're opening a new facility in Chattanooga to enable future growth and faster delivery to our customers. We're in the final stages of construction and are looking for an experienced Inventory Operations Manager to lead the set up, start up, and ongoing operations of our new distribution facility. Initially our Chattanooga operation will focus on warehousing and small parcel shipping, but is expected to expand to include LTL and wholesale shipping, assembly, quality assurance, and management of 3PL warehouses. This person will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day functions of all facets of the warehouse, ensuring efficiency, data-driven quality, and alignment with organizational objectives. Integrity, reliability, and respect for your fellow team members are a must.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work alongside the COO and Global Inventory Operations Manager in finding, training, developing, and running iFixit's Chattanooga Inventory Operations team and processes.
- Plan our facility layout to optimize performance, equipment use, team workspaces, and material placement.
- Find, develop, motivate, and manage a team of leads and staff.
- Monitor, review, and improve employees' performance, including training, disciplining, and mentoring.
- Assist teams in technical decision-making, scheduling, and management.
- Help teams or individuals with their work when needed.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to meet operational milestones, optimize warehouse efficiency and meet organizational goals.
- Ensure all inventory is properly received, packaged, stored, and handled by implementing and maintaining processes, while keeping our ERP system accurate.
- Manage inventory control procedures, cycle counting, and inventory flow.
- Ensure shipping timelines are met while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve operational performance.
- Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement and implement streamlined procedures to enhance overall warehouse performance.
- Work in consultation with out team members in San Luis Obispo and Stuttgart, to develop and revise standard global operational and working practices and ensure team members are in compliance with standards.
- Lead and support problem solving/troubleshooting efforts around process, equipment, and scheduling issues.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as an Operations Manager or similar role in a warehouse setting.
- 5+ years of experience in similar types of work (manufacturing, shipping, kitting/assembly, inventory control).
- 3+ years of managerial experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with creating and monitoring KPIs
- Self-directed, self-motivated, proactive, and deadline-focused.
- High degree of attention to detail.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Familiarity with inventory management software and logistics platforms.
- WiIlingness to travel (regularly to our San Luis Obispo, CA location and occasionally to our Stuttgart, Germany location).
