Title: Inventory Analyst
Report To: Chief Operating Office
Summary: The Inventory Analyst position is a data-driven role, in a multiple-site distribution environment and is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate inventory levels for Hardware Specialty Co. products. This includes analyzing inventory levels, forecasting future demand, developing, implementing, and maintaining the procedures and protocols for proper inventory control. The objective of this position is to recommend and maintain inventory levels that match closely with demand while minimizing both stockouts and excess inventory that may become obsolete.
Responsibilities:
• Systematically reviews reports data from multiple systems to develop detailed analysis of supply and demand for part numbers, SKU’s, part categories, and multiple warehouse locations
• Supply change management from purchase to end of life of a product
• Research sales trends and develop methods of reporting
• Maintain knowledge of new customers added, customers lost, changes in sales forecasts for existing customers, and develop methods to analyze and report effect on demand for parts and categories of parts
• Develops and maintains detailed reports highlighting current and projected inventory imbalances regarding supply and demand, utilizing inventory turns calculations
• Reports to upper management regularly providing detailed analysis of inventory balances by part numbers, part categories, warehouse locations
• Regularly reports inventory supply and demand imbalance trouble areas with recommendations for corrections and improved inventory control
• Maintain awareness of available warehouse space and space constraints when recommending appropriate inventory levels by business location
• Works in close collaboration with the company’s finance, sales and purchasing departments
• Recommend inventory adjustments at end of fiscal year, managed to the assigned budget
• Identify and resolve inventory discrepancies
• Participate in inventory-related projects and initiatives
• Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
• Proficient with Microsoft office, including skills with Outlook, and Word knowledge of Excel data entry, formulas, and V-look up
• Managing inventory in the fastener industry (a plus)
• Strong analytical, and ability to pay close attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices
• Demonstrated excellent communication skills, including business writing and presentations to management
• Shows the ability to solve complex problems individually, or to recommend solutions to senior management
Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in business preferred, experience in supply chain management or related field will be considered
• Experienced in data mining as it relates to inventory control and the analysis of supply and demand patterns
• At least 3 years of experience in inventory management, supply chain, inventory control role or related field
