Job Description:
This is a full time position (1.0 FTE), 40 hours per week, split between Intervention Specialist - SEL (20 hours per week) and SPED Teacher - Psychologist (20 hours per week)
Position Specific Information (if Applicable):
Intervention Specialist - SEL
Provides consultation or direct service in the areas of social, emotional and behavioral functioning to meet the individual needs of students in order to improve both academic achievement and social competence. Collaborates with school staff and administration to lead and support universal and targeted social emotional supports for all students. Develops and promotes good community relations among various district and community clientele.
SPED Teacher - Psychologist:
School Psychologists in the Douglas County School District serve students across all levels (PK-12) who require universal, targeted, and intensive intervention across special education and general education populations. Candidates should have demonstrated knowledge, skills, and commitment needed to provide direct and indirect services that help students and youth succeed: academically, socially, behaviorally and emotionally. Candidate will have understanding and empathy necessary for working with students and their families.
Responsibilities:
  • Support and establish a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment for a diverse population of students in order to: alleviate barriers to learning, engage students as individuals with unique interests and strengths, and promote student success at the student's developmental level.

  • Demonstrate expertise in assessment, data based decision-making skills and psycho-educational practices, in order to plan, consult, collaborate and/or provide direct services to students.
  • Effectively implement crisis prevention, intervention, response and recovery efforts.
  • Effective case management skills.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with school personnel, students and parents.

  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of every treatment/session delivered to students whether direct or indirect services. Information will be documented into either the current IEP system and/or current Medicaid system. Document all student services who are eligible for Medicaid reimbursement if current DORA license is held. Complete records of students' progress and development preparing required reports on students and activities

  • Documents health related services in Designated Medicaid documentation system for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program

Education:
Master's Degree in Educational Psychology
Certifications:
Special Services Provider
Minimum Hire Rate: $60,093.00 Annually
Maximum Hire Rate: $94,320.00 Annually
Responsibilities:
Consult with staff and support the provision of accommodations for students.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Refer students and families to mental health service providers or counselors when needed.
Provide leadership in the implementation of prevention strategies or programs at the school level.
Provide leadership in the implementation of and training in the school's social emotional learning framework or program.
Implement or support implementation of student behavior intervention plans.
Certifications:
Teacher License - Early Childhood Education - Colorado Department of Education, Teacher License - Educationally Handicapped - Colorado Department of Education, Teacher License - School Psychologist - Colorado Department of Education, Teacher License - School Social Worker - Colorado Department of Education, Teacher License - Severe Needs Affective - Colorado Department of Education, Teacher License - Special Education Endorsement - Colorado Department of Education

Position Salary Schedule Eligibility:

Licensed position salaries are set based on one of three salary schedules; General, Hard to Hire, and Specialist/Extremely Hard to Hire. DCSD will award up to 7 years of previous licensed teaching experience at the time of hire. Click HERE to view the current DCSD Licensed Salary Schedules*.
  • *All salary amounts listed on the schedules are based on a full-time (1.0) FTE. If applicable, part-time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE.
