The City of Hillsboro is accepting applications for a Library Program Intern to join their team this Summer 2024!
Under the supervision of staff, this position is responsible for assisting with the Library's internal program activities with a focus on youth and teens.
Pay Range: $16.73 - $22.90 hourly
Hours: Part-time, 25 hours/week; flexible schedule

General Description of Duties
- Support youth and family programs, through assisting with:
- Set up and clean-up program activities, assist youth during programs.
- Compiling program information to include in the Event Guide.
- Scheduling approved programs in calendars.
- Tracking data, including attendance and reading logs.
- Tracking program contracts.
- Engaging with volunteers & maintain communication with them.
- Assist the Explore team with office tasks, including sending emails, making phone calls, and keeping outreach materials organized.
- Engage with families and answer questions about library services.
The Successful Candidate:
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Customer service skills, or a strong desire to learn--this position is very people-focused
- Approachable, friendly
- Fast learner
- Able to multi-task
Requirements
- Preference may be given to students currently enrolled in the Portland Community
College, Future Connect Program - Must complete and pass criminal background check
- Must be able to commit to the entire internship

Bilingual incentive pay available
Preference may be given to candidates who are bilingual in Spanish/English and bilingualism is our ideal as opportunities for community engagement abound. Employees who can demonstrate the ability to speak Spanish, or any language spoken by over ten percent (10%) of City residents as documented by the most recent U.S. Census, at a proficiency level determined by a fluency test administered by the City, will receive a monthly premium of three percent (3%) of their regular base pay.
