The Lake Oswego Office (just south of Portland) of TTH serves public and private sector with a broad range of integrated services, primarily in project and construction management, but also facilities management, commissioning services, and strategic consulting. This internship will work primarily out of the Lake Oswego office focused on projects in Portland, with potential opportunities in Central and Southern Oregon.
About the Internship (Summer 2024)
- Start Date: Targeting May 2024
- End Date: Targeting August 2024
- Optional timeframe Extension: Opportunities for high-quality candidates to continue part-time work, both remote and in-person
- Hours: M-F, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm (flexible depending on candidate and project requirements)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The intern will report to the assigned Program Manager and will support the project management staff in their everyday role, learning and performing the following:
- Construction Management support to team project managers.
- Construction observation site visits, photo documentation, and report creation.
- Assist in managing the scope, schedule, and budget of the program.
- Build working relationships across the team.
- Balance the needs of the internal and external stakeholders across the project team.
- Documentation of critical systems installed on active construction projects.
- Construction documentation research and verification to answer formal requests for information (RFI) and architect’s supplemental instructions (ASI) and confirm submittal conformance to specifications.
- Managing vendor furniture deliveries and logistical support for projects.
- Project management information systems software support through scanning, organizing, and electronic file management.
- Attend meetings and convert decisions into progress reports.
- Assist with the development of program financial models and stakeholder presentations.
- Attend at least one training, workshop, or presentation regarding project management, construction management, sustainable design, or other related discipline for continuing professional education.

- Develop and use project management skills to ensure scope, budget, and schedule balance with client expectations and outcomes.
- Understand the dynamic complexities of business, construction, and project management.
- Understand the standards of professionalism in the workplace.
- Understand current industry trends specific to the Pacific Northwest with a concentration on long-term career growth opportunities in Oregon.
This internship is designed for candidates with a strong academic background, preferably in Construction Management, Project Management, or an engineering-related degree. Applicants should identify as self-motivated, creative, and disciplined, seeking to excel in the Project Management Owner’s Representation Industry.
- Current college junior, senior, or graduate level student
- Interest or experience in a Design, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, or other engineering disciplines, Construction Trades Apprenticeship, Construction or Project Management career
- Experience with Google Suites, Microsoft Project, or other construction related software
- Strong presentation skills
- Ability to network and develop strong relationships
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Solid written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Internship will require weekly in-person inspections, review of equipment installation, and client meetings. Candidates should expect to regularly commute to the assigned office and area sites. Relocation and transportation support is not available, but candidates will receive mileage reimbursement for project-specific travel.
