Form of workThe City of Hillsboro is accepting applications for a Customer Service Intern based at the Shute Park Library. The intern will assist the public as they use the Library and the Collaboratory maker space to learn, discover, explore, and make. The Customer Service Intern will learn about and perform various aspects of library work for career exploration and work experience.
Pay Range: $16.73 - $22.90 hourly
Hours: Part-time, 25 hours/week; flexible schedule

What You Will Be Doing
- Assist patrons as they learn to use the tools, troubleshooting, troubleshooting equipment, and keeping supplies organized.
- Help facilitate activities and programming for all ages, in the library and through community outreach.
- Assist the public with basic library tasks, such as computer use, printing, catalog searches, checkouts, and using their library cards.
- Shelve books and assist with other materials movement tasks.
- Participate in professional development and training.

- Enjoys teaching or coaching patrons and teammates.
- Has basic computer skills, including MS Office or Google Suite.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in College or University, high school student who has completed 2 years, or recent high school graduate
- Preference may be given to students currently enrolled in the Portland Community College, Future Connect Program
- Bilingual, Spanish/English speaking strongly preferred
- Must be able to complete and pass criminal background check.

Bilingual incentive pay available
Preference may be given to candidates who are bilingual in Spanish/English and bilingualism is our ideal as opportunities for community engagement abound. Employees who can demonstrate the ability to speak Spanish, or any language spoken by over ten percent (10%) of City residents as documented by the most recent U.S. Census, at a proficiency level determined by a fluency test administered by the City, will receive a monthly premium of three percent (3%) of their regular base pay.
