The International Development Division has an opening for an International Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Assistant (I) reporting to a Research Associate on the International Development Division's Monitoring, Evaluation and Research (MER) Team in Washington, DC. This position will support monitoring and evaluation of international projects in basic education, youth and workforce development and health. There is significant opportunity for growth in this position for an individual with initiative to build skills, gain experience and take on increasing levels of responsibility. The ideal candidate would be based out of the Washington, DC office. Additional office locations (such as Waltham, MA) or full (US-based) telecommuter status will also be considered. Eastern Standard Time +6 and -2 hours are the limits in terms of time zones.
Tasks may involve international travel. Excellent qualitative and/or quantitative data analysis skills, as well as strong writing skills in English are required. Working proficiency in French, Spanish, or Arabic an asset.
Under management oversight, the International Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Assistant (I) provides support to qualitative &/or quantitative investigation efforts, including:
- research & analysis using a variety of methodologies and approaches
- drafting reports, briefs, and presentations for a variety of audiences
- documenting & cataloguing, including of data collection procedures, purposes, and findings
- maintaining records
- preparing preliminary recommendations
- disseminating information
- supporting development and proposal work to help EDC get new projects
- maintaining databases and dashboards
- presenting M&E methodologies and findings internally and externally
- learning advanced features of software to program electronic data collection tools
- meeting donor requirements and working on M&E tasks with partners
- assist in hiring project and M&E staff, including screening resumes and participating in interviews
- facilitating meetings and taking meeting minutes
- coordinating work between staff internally and externally, in US and international offices, and on different technical teams
You will:
- Leads assigned administrative tasks
- Facilitates project teamwork; seeks and utilizes feedback
- Assists with quality assurance
- Provides logistical support
- Contributes to the design and implementation of monitoring, evaluation, and Research tools, procedures, and studies
- Assists in analyzing data and writing reports and briefers for Evaluation and studies
- Develops and maintains relationships with staff internationally, in different parts of the country, internally, and externally
- Represents the M&E team internally and externally
- Attends learning events, such as brownbags and conferences
- Collaborates with M&E team members to develop skills in variety of M&E approaches and platforms, including software for data collection, storage, analysis, and visualization
- Assists projects to adhere to donor requirements and standards for M&E
- Collaborates with technical team members to capture results of EDC's technical approaches in education, youth workforce development, and health
- May be expected to travel
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education & experience
Other skills/experience:
- Training in statistics, quantitative research methodologies
- Training in qualitative research methodologies preferred
- 2-4 years related research, education or administrative coordination, requiring experience with computer applications (including databases) and Internet research
- Knowledge of statistics platforms such as SPSS required
- Experience using electronic data collection platforms such as Kobo Collect or ODK preferred
- Experience using data visualization tools such as Power BI preferred
- Experience working with teams in low- and middle-income countries preferred
- Excellent cross-cultural communication skills
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability
- Eagerness to learn, grow, and take initiative
- Strong collaboration skills
Language:
- REQUIRED Proficiency in French, Spanish, or Arabic (French prioritized)
Preferred skills/experience:
- Master's degree or equivalent combination of training & education in a related field preferred

This position offers an anticipated annual, full-time equivalent salary of $55,000. Salary offers are made based on market analysis and internal equity.
