Required Skills:

Internal Software Engineer Responsibilities:

1. Design, build, and maintain core backend and frontend software components, following Meta's standard of the Software Engineering processes to design, develop, document, review, test, inspect, and release code.

2. Build software in the Meta stack using primarily Hack (PHP), React (JavaScript) and Python, producing high quality code with good test coverage with modern abstractions and frameworks when appropriate.

3. Use engineering skill sets in a business organization to drive meaningful business impact by looking at problems through an operational lens.

4. Partner with cross-functional product and analytics teams to influence and contribute to the direction of large-scale strategic projects as well as solve ongoing operational problems at scale.

5. Communicate progress and plans, raising critical issues with peers, manager, and cross-functional partners in a timely manner.

6. Execute and complete tasks on well-scoped projects with minimal supervision applying your judgement and problem-solving skills.

7. Tackle increasingly complex tasks, proactively seeking out additional work when bandwidth allows.

8. Telecommute from anywhere in the US permitted.

Requires a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Software, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, or related field and two years of work experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation. Requires two years of experience in the following:

10. Coding in PHP, Hack, Python, Java, or C++

11. Writing self-documented code, in conducting design and code reviews

12. High-level performance optimization and troubleshooting bottlenecks

13. Software development tools: Code editors (VIM, Emacs, or VS Code), and revision control systems (Subversion, GIT, or Perforce)

14. Linux, UNIX, or other *nix-like OS as evidenced by file manipulation, advanced commands, and shell scripting

15. Core web technologies: HTML, CSS, or JavaScript

16. Build highly-scalable performant solutions

17. Data processing, programming languages, databases, networking, operating systems, computer graphics, or human-computer interaction

18. Applying algorithms and core computer science concepts to real world systems as evidenced by recognizing and matching patterns from different areas of computer science in production systems

19. Distributed systems.

Public Compensation:

$193,073/year to $235,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
