Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00 (40 hours)
Summary/Objective:
Essential Functions
The Staff Auditor plays an important role in assisting the Internal Audit Manager in the achievement of the annual Internal Audit Plan.The Staff Auditor is responsible for independently and objectively performing testing of the Credit Union's internal control environment to assist with maintaining and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of risk management and corporate governance.

  • Perform operational, financial and integrated audits, under the supervision of the Internal Audit Manager and/or Senior Internal Auditor, to assess the adequacy of internal controls, validate compliance with regulatory standards and identify opportunities to mitigate risks and streamline operational processes.
  • Help identify opportunities to mitigate risks and streamline operational processes.
  • Assist in liaising and representing the credit union with the external audit firm(s).
  • Develop internal audit programs and test plans under the direction of the Internal Audit Manager and/or Senior Internal Auditor.
  • Provide advice, coach, and facilitate training of new auditors.
  • Analyze procedures, reports, processes, and financial data to assess the effectiveness of internal controls at the credit union.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and objective workpapers under minimal supervision.
  • Collaborate with management throughout the credit union to understand business processes and evaluate controls for audited areas.
  • Report results of audit work to Internal Audit Management.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit reports including recommended corrective action(s) and validating business area remediation efforts.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for various credit union committees.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Managers(s).

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related area required
  • 1-3 years of related audit experience, preferrably in banking or financial service
  • Willing to pursue a CIA, CISA or CPA designation

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment.This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopier/scanner, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.This is a largely sedentary role.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and to reach with hands and arms.
Travel:Independent daily travel to and from the main office location is required of this position as well as the ability to get to and from local conference locations.Ability to travel to credit union operational and branch locations for audits as necessary.
