Ultragenyx is continuously assessing new project ideas to build and maintain our Translational Research portfolio. We are seeking an intern who can participate in evaluation of a therapeutic indication and/or therapeutic concept as well as help optimize and streamline our assessment database and operations. During this internship you will learn how we consider and evaluate new therapeutic program opportunities and contribute to building a robust database system to organize and track assessment information. Additional opportunities may include supporting pipeline project teams and/or the Translational Research PPM group to refine existing data/program management infrastructure.
Work Model:Remote: Officially documented as working full-time from home, with travel to Ultragenyx's offices or other locations on occasion as needed.
Flex: This role will typically require onsite work 2-3 days each week, or more depending on business needs. In many locations, the business will set certain days each week that Flex employees are required to be onsite.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluation of scientific literature and publicly available information for therapeutic indications.
- Meet with internal subject matter experts to glean relevant information and perspectives on potential therapeutic programs.
- Summarize findings and present final strategic recommendation to Translational Research Evaluation Team.
- Review and refine templates for proposing new therapeutic programs to TRET. Organize and automate online database for tracking and storing past proposals.
- Meet with therapeutic project leads and/or TR team to update and refine online databases and/or document storage systems.
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study (eg, Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedical engineering, Pharmacology, etc.), with minimum of second/sophomore year completed and strong academic standing/recommendations
- Completion of introductory Biology and/or Biochemistry course
- Enrolled as a full-time student with plans to return to school in fall term
- Available to work 40 hours/week during normal business hours
- Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and online database tools like SmartSheet and Sharepoint
- Ability to read academic papers/data and surmise key conclusions and outstanding questions.
