The CIBMTR (Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research) and Clinical Services Department plays a vital role in advancing the strategic mission of NMDP by leading life-saving research. The department provides clinical perspective to complement and direct research. Through its multifaceted approach, the CIBMTR and Clinical Services Department advance research, ensuring impactful advancements in blood and marrow transplant.

The CIBMTR & Clinical Services intern role is a summer internship designed to introduce the intern to multiple aspects of how research can dictate clinical practice and to the mission of Be The Match. The intern will be responsible for completing 1-2 projects during the summer which will include a presentation to the department at the end of the assignment. The intern is responsible for supporting the evaluation of NMDP research implementation programs. Responsibilities include gathering, organizing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data from various program evaluation tools, such as survey data and monitoring forms. The role involves aiding in the execution of evaluation plans by reporting on program evaluation findings to stakeholders. The overarching objective is to assist in evaluating the impact of strategies and interventions aimed at delivering the best possible care and outcomes for our patients.  This is a remote position (US) for students accepted or enrolled in a Master of Public Health or related program or within one year of graduation.  #LI-Remote

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Data Analysis 

  • Collaborates with the Data and Implementation Science team to collect, organize, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data from program materials such as survey data and monitoring forms 
  • Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns in data using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation to statistical analysis 
  • Provides data insights and compelling data visualizations to all areas of the organization regarding research implementation projects

 

Program Evaluation 

  • Utilizes quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods and theory to execute program evaluation
  • Disseminates data findings from program evaluation to key stakeholders including NMDP leadership and staff

 

Other duties as assigned

  • Assists with projects as needed
  • Participates in weekly supervision sessions and team meetings
  • Attends meetings and participates in other related activities as directed by supervisor

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

  • Quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • Programmatic implementation and evaluation
  • Microsoft Excel

 

Ability to:

  • Think proactively, be a self-starter, and function both independently and as a team.
  • Display data visually, creating powerful presentations and stories which effectively quantify and justify value created to both analytical and non-analytical audiences.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and possess excellent organizational skills 
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with people of diverse cultures and styles 
  • Communicate with a wide range of people through strong writing and oral abilities 
  • Demonstrate proficient analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Intern must adhere to the NMDP Confidentiality Policy 
  • Contribute as an inspiring and enthusiastic team member

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Accepted or enrolled in a graduate-level Public Health or related program or within one year of completing a Master of Public Health or related degree.
