Seeking a self-motivated, team-oriented engineering intern to be part of Micron's next generation Solid State Drive (SSD) development team. This position may include hardware architecture, circuit design and signal integrity and power supply designs. It may also include modeling and simulation for high speed signaling implementations and power supply design and power distribution network (PDN) simulations. In addition capturing empirical results and automation may be included.
Duties and Responsibilities
+ Interface in cross functional teams to ensure the design meets all firmware, diagnostic and system level requirements.
+ Participate in architecture definition, design reviews, requirements generation of SSD products.
+ Perform basic Signal and power integrity measurements.
+ Document and communicate results with design leads.
+ Simulate and analyze design proposals, review results and provide recommendations on optimal design practices to other design engineers.
+ Hardware design, worst-case analysis, simulations, capture schematic, de-rating and assumes ownership of design blocks under supervision of HW design lead.
+ PCB back-end process: defining stack-up and via technologies, part placement, setting design constraints, signal integrity and power integrity analysis
+ Works proactively with cross functional team members during design, verification as well as on RMAs
Critical Skills
+ Self-motivated. Desire to take on challenges. Result-driven and details oriented.
+ General knowledge interpersonal and communication skills are a must.
+ General knowledge in transmission line fundamentals. Understand the fundamentals of time-domain vs. frequency-domain.
+ General knowledge in circuit designs, as well as semiconductor design.
+ General knowledge PCB design experience on high speed signals routing guideline and review, power copper routing and review, design for EMI/ESD protection.
+ General knowledge in design for signal integrity, including SerDes, power and interconnect.
+ Develops solutions to technical problems, which require ingenuity and creativity.
+ General knowledge of analog design using simulation e.g. SPICE (or equivalent).
+ General knowledge with Schematic design tools or equivalent.
+ General knowledge of lab SI analysis using standard test equipment.
Qualification Requirements
+ BS, ME or PhD in Electrical Engineering
+ Must not graduate before August 2024.
+ 0+ years of relevant design experience
+ Good written and verbal communication
+ Good problem-solving skills
