What Your Job Will Be Like We are seeking a Summer - R&D Graduate Intern to join our dynamic team! On any given day, you may be called on to: Work on innovative projects for electric grid reliability and resilience Explore cyber threats to the Nation's grid and infrastructure Look at innovative solutions for distributed Energy Systems integration Assist with the development of emulytics system models/cyber-security experimentation capability Use understanding, modeling, and planning for electric grid challenges including natural and intentional threats and how they may benefit from Resilient Energy solutions Ensure resilience to a variety of contingency scenarios Use data analytics, visualization, and AI driven feedback Qualified candidates will be part of a team addressing research problems using a collaborative approach Qualifications We Require You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements: Earned bachelor's degree Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer U.S. citizenship Note: If you have not yet started your graduate program, please apply to an undergraduate intern position.

Qualifications We Desire General computer skills including Microsoft office, data analysis, reporting, and programming Experience in computer programming for equipment control or data reduction (e.g. Labview, Matlab, Python, Java, etc.) General knowledge of technical principles and processes Self-Starter with a strong wiliness to learn Leadership experience and willingness to take on leadership roles Understand the use of a variety of research tools Good oral and written communication skills Ability to contribute in a team environment General knowledge of project management Demonstrate ability to develop and present ideas and results in oral and written form Posting Duration This posting will be open for application submissions for a minimum of seven (7) calendar days, including the 'posting date'. About Our Team The Resilient Energy Systems Intern Institute (RESII) is an innovative program focused on providing undergrad and graduate students with exciting and challenging opportunities to progress their science and engineering foundation and provide an introduction to the energy resilience research field. The U.S. Energy System is currently vulnerable and under attack.

The RES Intern Institute supports the development of new capabilities to enhance resilience for the nation's energy infrastructure, as well as related critical infrastructures, against a wide range of existing and emerging threats. Our focus is on new science and technologies that will lead to an Energy System that is more resilient to intentional threats - cyber, HEMP, and kinetic attacks; and unintentional threats - climate related impacts. Security Clearance Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.

If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.
