What Your Job Will Be Like We are seeking a Year-Round R&D Undergraduate Intern to join our dynamic team! On any given day you may be called to: Develop prototype electrical hardware (HW) designs Write embedded software (SW) in C/C++ programming languages Test and evaluate custom circuit boards Conduct field tests to evaluate performance of systems Perform environmental testing with temperature chambers Assist engineers with miscellaneous activities including: identifying parts, prototyping circuits, and making measurements Posting Duration This posting will be open for application submissions for a minimum of seven (7) calendar days, including the 'posting date'. NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs. If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date. Qualifications We Require You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements: Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer U.S.

citizenship Qualifications We Desire Undergraduate student pursing a degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering Experience using lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, and spectrum analyzers Experience writing embedded software that run on real-time operating systems Familiarity with Git distributed version control system Working knowledge of C/C++ programming Experience writing scripts in MATLAB and/or Python About Our Team The Sensors & Embedded Systems department (5974) serves to develop valuable sensors and sensor systems by providing specialized ultra-low power embedded HW/SW expertise to ensure successful project delivery: We provide custom low-power engineering solutions We specialize in taking COTS components and integrating them to meet customer needs We provide unbiased software and hardware consultation for critical mission components We offer extensive domain knowledge related to fielded unattended systems We are seeking an individual who is ready to collaborate and work with a tight-knit group of engineers in a laboratory setting to meet pressing national security missions.
