Sandia's Department 5326 - Inertial Systems develops innovative inertial and electronic subsystems for missiles, air-delivered applications, unattended ground sensor networks, and surrogate test articles for exploratory electromagnetic and radiation tests. The organization specializes in test and evaluation of inertial sensors along with developing electronic subsystems for data acquisition and algorithm processing. Members of the organization have varying skills that include inertial sensor assessment and analysis, electronics, software, and mechanical design, electro/mechanical fabrication capability, and combined-environment test development. Product development involves requirements capture, modeling, detailed design, fabrication, system integration, testing, and data analysis to ensure all requirements are met.

Security Clearance
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

- Collaborate with team members in design and test efforts
- Conduct sensor testing in our Inertial Test Lab using -
- 3-axis rate tables
- Centrifuge
- Vacuum Chambers
- Thermal Chambers
- Participate in drive around and other motion measurement testing efforts
- Participate in sensor analysis
Qualifications We Require
You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:
- Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
- Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
- Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
- U.S. citizenship
Qualifications We Desire
- Familiar with lab testing
- Knowledge of embedded systems
- Experience with schematic capture tools - Altium, Xpedtition Designer, OrCAD, similar
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, C programming
- Knowledge of signal processing
- Provide good documentation for knowledge transfer and lessons learned content
