Minimum Qualifications of Education and Experience
High School graduate, G.E.D., or foreign education equivalent to a U.S. High School Diploma.
AND
Currently pursuing an applicable 2- or 4-year degree in Engineering, CAD-Drafting, Facilities Management, Project Management, or pursuing any level of Boiler Operator Licensure.
Regular and reliable attendance is a necessary component of job/position. Individuals required to use County vehicles and equipment must have a valid driver's license and be free of any major traffic violations for the last three (3) years.
Nature of Work
Under supervision, assists the Engineering team, Facility Operations, Maintenance Department, and assists with current/future projects. Assists with the evaluation of equipment operations, documents current state conditions, and assists with the continuous improvement efforts throughout the facility. Makes recommendations to update and develop CAD documents. Provide general input on project viability. Attends and participates in facility meetings as required. This positions is a provisional, temporary role working approximately 32-40 hours per week for the duration of the summer (3-4 months).
Examples of Work
- Assists with creating basic documentation, data collection, component research, pictures, and progress updates to support engineering projects.
- Assists with the creation of preliminary reports on project feasibility, cost, and scope.
- Assists with updating legacy drawings and developing new drawings and/or 3D CAD files with the use of AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Assists with conducting incoming inspections of new parts/assemblies and performs periodic observations of equipment throughout the facility.
- Assists with the transfer of files, project materials, manuals etc. into organized digital files.
- Assists with other general support duties as required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Basic knowledge of time and project management techniques.
- Some knowledge of industrial facilities, maintenance, fabrication or component design preferred.
- Some knowledge of generating parts, assemblies, and drawings using SolidWorks tools, and basic 2D drawings using AutoCAD.
- Skill in the use of computers, technology, and Microsoft tools including Excel and Word.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work in a safe manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all OWEF staff.
- Ability to read and understand sketches and diagrams.
