About the role:
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern at Mitsubishi Logisnext Americas (MLA), you will be responsible for assisting the team with successfully implementing improvement processes related to safety, quality, and process waste elimination.
What you will do:
- Learns about the company's manufacturing operations and participates in activities to review products being built and areas where projects will occur.
- Conducts pre-work activities for projects to include installing computer programs, creating outlines of defined projects, and determining check-in cadences.
- Assists Manufacturing Engineers with projects pertaining to Kaizen, 3D/2D design, process mapping, and time studies.
When & Where:
- This is a part-time position that will be onsite in our Houston office.
What you need to have:
- Pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or a related field.
- In good academic standing with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Classified as an incoming junior, senior, or graduate student (completed 60 or more semester hours)
- Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship in the future.
- Able to work onsite in the Houston office
- Available to complete the 10-week internship program working part-time hours (30 hours per week on average)
- Self-starter with a demeanor for growth and continuous learning
- Excellent quantitative, organizational, and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization
- Computer skills: MS office and model design software (AutoCAD/Creo)
What would be nice to have:
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques
- Knowledge of forklift industry or adjacent markets
