The Digital Media, Communications Intern will contribute to the M-Braves social media, marketing, and creative services departments by taking photos and videos to promote M-Braves games and events and contributing to team social media accounts. This position will play a key role in capturing and producing engaging content for distribution on various mediums including team social media, mississippibraves.com, stadium in-game presentation, and advertising. The ideal candidate is creative, comfortable and active across the main social media platforms, confident and poised in interactions with athletes and fans, and is willing to contribute to overall marketing initiatives. The Digital Media, Communications Intern reports to the Director of Communications, Media and Broadcasting.
Essential Functions
- Help manage team's online presence, contributing video/photo content on all major social medias to tell the team's story to fans in creative and engaging ways
- Assist with the planning and implementation of team media day
- Lead day-to-day execution of social media posts and maintain the social media calendar with promotional posts, historical content and assist with executing paid advertisements for promotional events
- Work with internal sales and creative teams to develop engaging social media content from concept to execution
- Help monitor and respond to social media customer service inquiries
- Capture the overall gameday experience at Trustmark Park on and off the field to help the team create engaging content
- Research strategies of other MiLB/MLB teams and other professional sports
- Contribute to team email blast communication and website development
- Quickly edit highlight clips during games at home and on the road to be shared on team social media accounts. Compile game highlight compilations
- Maintain and organize all content captured during games
- Assist with the day-to-day duties of the M-Braves Communications Department which include game notes, stat packs, press box setup, conducting and coordinating media interviews, recording podcast episodes and producing graphics
- Attend and assist with M-Braves events including non-baseball and pre-season events at the stadium
- Be able to conduct player/sponsor interviews and be comfortable in front of a camera, or on-air
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient in video/photo production techniques utilizing the Adobe Creative Cloud ((Photoshop, Lightroom, Premier)
- Photography and videography experience
- Knowledge and skill in social media content creating with an emphasis on TikTok and Instagram Reels
- Creativity and willingness to bring new ideas to continue to grow team's reach within the community
- Strong teamwork skills as well as the ability to work independently and self-motivate
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced gameday environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a knowledge of baseball
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays during the baseball season.
- Ability to pull tarp and other manual labor duties
- Candidates will be expected to follow professional standards in credentialed media spaces such as dugouts, team clubhouses, press boxes, etc
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree OR working toward degree
- Experience with another minor league club, and familiar with Forge, Meta Business Suite, Constant Contact, Tagboard, MLB Research Tool, Diamond, and Aspera are a plus
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is an hourly seasonal position. Days and hours will vary to include evening and weekend work according to business needs.
