Job Description Summary
The Intern will assist ECD's Asset Management team with tasks related to the performance of the company's portfolio of affordable and workforce apartment communities. Primary duties include financial reviews, site visits, operating reviews with in-house property management, and partner reporting. This position will work with external and internal customers and must have strong communication skills, strong quantitative skills, and the ability to read financial statements for multi-family real estate ventures. This position will be supervised by various managers within the Asset Management team.
Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor the performance of operating properties including weekly occupancy levels, financial results, and physical condition, and address performance challenges with property management.
- Interact with Asset Management staff and senior management to provide accurate and timely information.
- Review, analyze and evaluate periodic financial statements (balance sheets and operating reports), annual operating budgets and annual property audits for ECD portfolio; proactively address variances as needed to ensure performance on or ahead of budget.
- Conduct site visits to assess property performance and condition. Prepare site visit reports.
- Assist in the property insurance claims process with the Manager, Asset Management.
- Assist Asset Managers in supporting acquisition, design/construction/lease-up/stabilization phases of development and work with cross-functional project teams to support development projects.
- Organize and maintain electronic file structure. Locate and organize electronic files for Asset Management staff.
- Updating property tax control log.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree with an interest in community development and finance.
- Strong verbal communication and business writing skills.
- Ability to read financial statements.
- Strong computer skills with excellent MS Excel skills.
