Castellano Custom Furniture, Inc. is an upholstered furniture manufacturer in Portland. We are looking for a designer to work with fellow designers and their clients as well as assisting retail clients with upholstered furniture design and selection.
The designer is the lead in the showroom and acts as a personal designer for retail clients, and a showroom guide for the to the trade designers and their clients. This includes initial intake, through the design development to contract, and again in job close.
Additionally, the designer assists needed with the translation of the ordered design to manufacturable orders, tracking metrics for lead through completed order, and various showroom/sales tasks.
1. Product Design Coordination and Showroom Management
As the furniture sales expert, the Designer guides customer (fellow designer or retail) in initial lead process through design and quotation in furniture design decisions
· Assists/ quotes designers with clients
· Schedules sales calls/ appointments
· Sketches custom sofas / sectionals
· Assists with planning new showroom models
· Suggests new sofa styles based on trending designs
· Keeps showroom and material library presentable and easy to use for clients
2. Retailer order Entry and General Office Support
· Enters wholesale orders from local retailers
· Where necessary, clarifies orders via sketches of custom sofas / sectionals for local retailer approval.
· Answers general questions regarding styles, changes allotted, and fabric details
· Creates and updates Retail and Wholesale Catalog / Spec Pages
· Updates websites as needed
· Assists with Accounts Receivables to verify which orders have shipped each day and matches them to the correct order acknowledgements for billing
· Applies check and visa deposits to existing orders
· Answers Phone Calls
· Manages general emails and web emails
· Organizes and creates style binders for the factory
· Updates current catalogs, price lists, finishing touches charges, etc.
· Misc. admin work including additional support projects as needed
Required Skills:
· Friendly and helpful demeanor especially in a customer facing role
· Strong verbal and written intrapersonal skills including Sales, Phone and other customer facing roles
· Work with minimal supervision.
· Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
· Ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines
· Team player who can actively solve problem and apply both creative and strategic thinking
· Ability to work to meet a client’s design goals regardless of personal style/ preference
· Experience with sketching to scale (knows how to use an architectural ruler) and/or sketching software
· Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (outlook, Word, Excel)
· Works well with a variety of people and personalities
Beneficial Skills:
· Design and space planning experience
· Understanding the basic building structure of furniture (training available)
· Familiarity with textile/ fabric codes and properties
· Familiarity with QuickBooks
· Experience with social media (Instagram, Facebook)

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
