Job description

We are currently seeking an Interior Designer IIIin our CCJ&E practice.  Candidates experienced with corporate design, conceptual design, and strong Revit skills & presentation skills are preferred.  The Interior Designer III role is responsible for developing, organizing and executing the conceptual design of a project as well as utilizing creativity, foresight and judgment to meet project requirements and objectives through project completion. The ideal candidate has extensive experience working on projects such as: Jails, Prisons and or Courthouses. Experience in Justice and Civic is highly preferred. Other preferred project experience includes: police facilities, fire stations  and city and county buildings and public works.

Selected Knowledge & Skills include (but not limited to):

  • Proficiency in Revit is required
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Architectural Desktop
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software preferred
  • Ability to manage, mentor and delegate to Interns, Designer I and II as needed to complete drawings, documents, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, materials application and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness; consistently share such knowledge with Teammates.
  • Advanced knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings, and models.
  • Advanced knowledge of furniture, fixture and equipment (FF&E), architectural/interior finishes, lighting, art signage, color and materials to carryout design intent.
  • Advanced Knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations, life safety codes and ADA requirements.
  • Knowledge of the construction process from bidding through construction administration, roles of consultants, contractors, construction schedules, phasing, inspections, etc.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Knowledge of project deadlines
  • Knowledge of expectations related to high quality service to clients
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Possess basic hand and CAD drafting skills
  • Possess space planning skills and interest in programming
  • Basic proficiency of Adobe Creative Suite skills preferred
  • Basic proficiency of 3D Modeling software such as 3D Studio Max and Viz 2006 preferred

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Conduct field surveys as required; Field surveys must be easy to read and thorough.
  • Assist in preparation of drawings for all design phases.
  • Update design documents as needed for all levels of designers.
  • Develop solutions to technical and design problems following established standards.
  • Prepare 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings.
  • Build models for client/project team review.
  • Provide research and compile data during design phases.
  • Prepare and modify architectural documents, elevations, sections, details, etc.
  • Participate in design charrettes and project team meetings.
  • Participate in client meetings as directed.
  • Participate in the construction process as requested (site visits, punch lists, submittals, shop drawing review, etc.).
  • Attend “lunch and learn” events and other vendor presentations on an ongoing basis.
  • Complete timesheet daily and expense reports accurately and on-time.
  • Embrace specific steps to create, develop and promote a diverse workforce and to promote an inclusive environment
  • Assist in the programming phases as directed.
  • Assist with the schematic phases as directed (sketching, input of sketches, modification of schematic test fit plans, etc.).
  • Possess basic knowledge of project budget and schedules as well as understands responsibility to adhere to set parameters.

 

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from an accredited University PLUS:
  •  5+ years’ experience; or equivalent in appropriate education and experience working in the field of Interior Design/Architecture.
  • Previous experience working on Public projects with States, Counties, or Cities

 

National salary average (regional cost of living factors are considered into the hiring process): $70,000 – $95,000, plus bonuses and benefits; contingent on relevant experience.
