Opal: Food+Body Wisdom is a local, female owned and clinician-led eating disorder treatment facility in the University District of Seattle, Washington that offers Partial Hospitalization Program, Intensive Outpatient Program and very limited outpatient services. Radically Open Dialectical Therapy, Exercise+Sport programming and clinic wide weight-inclusive practices are infused throughout our treatment. With Opal's founders and clinical leadership team being experienced clinicians and closely involved in the day to day treatment, staff are able to learn from experienced clinicians and see the integration of these unique treatment offerings in a higher level of care setting.
What can you expect with our RO DBT treatment?
RO DBT is the foundational treatment approach offered to our clients, as evidenced by specialized groups created and led by Dr. Lexi Giblin, who is intensively trained in RO DBT and an RO DBT Alumni Senior Clinician. RO DBT skills classes, meal support approach, self-inquiry group, and more offer clients a wrap around RO DBT treatment experience. Opal staff have the regular opportunity to learn about RO DBT through our internal training program called The School of RO and apply their knowledge by co-leading groups and supporting clients through an RO DBT lens.
What can you expect with our Exercise+Sport approach?
We offer regular and robust programming for ALL of our clients to explore their relationship with exercise, sport and movement. We offer individual exercise experientials for all of our clients as well as specific groups to address relationship with movement. Staff interested and trained to be part of this programming is supervised by co-founder Kara Bazzi who has 20 years of experience and expertise in integrating relationship with movement into eating disorder care.
What can you expect with our weight-inclusive care?
As a clinic that was founded in 2012 on Health at Every Size principles and continually informed by weight-inclusivity and the Anti-Diet movement, we aim for systemic and individual application of a non-diet and non-weight based approach to food and body. Staff can expect to have a work environment that celebrates body diversity and freedom with food. Clinical learning opportunities abound in group and individual therapy where our understanding is stretched about how to effectively deliver inclusive eating disorder treatment that can lead to healing for individuals in all sized bodies.
Our facilities:
Our passionate staff come together, in a newly renovated facility, to support our clients by offering a warm healing environment for the hard work of eating disorder recovery. Staff are able to enjoy work spaces that are fully furnished, with bright daylight, comfortable furniture, and modern technology.
As a member of Opal's staff you would have opportunities to showcase your strengths and work alongside a staff that is innovative and passionate about the application of RODBT, weight-inclusive practices, and exercise+sport in eating disorder treatment.
