RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Work with students who require intensive support
- Use assigned instructional learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment
- Maintain confidentiality
- Report to supervising teachers and follow assigned plans
- Be able to adjust to flexible schedules and tasks as needed, from day to day.
- Supervise teacher planned activities
- Assist special education students with assignments/projects, individually or in groups
- Assist in preparation of instructional materials
- Escort students under direction of the teacher, as needed
- Assist students with adaptive devices, as trained and needed
- If applicable, tend to toileting, feeding, medical and personal hygiene needs, following training
- Train and maintain a currently “trained” status in Safe Crisis Management
- Be willing to train in specialized interventions for students, as needed.
- Maintain accurate performance records of students and communicate progress to the teacher
- Support students in the general education environment with adaptations and modifications, as
- assigned.
- Have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Be capable of physically assisting students who have disabilities as required (positioning, lifting,
- transferring, physically managing, etc.)
- Attend staff and team meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Maintain punctual and regular attendance
LICENSE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- 48 credit hours of college level classes
OR
- High School Diploma and Pass the Para-Pro Assessment within the first year of employment.
OR
- may consider other experience or credentials
