Position Summary:
The Financial Aid Analyst is responsible for providing, obtaining, processing, and packaging student Financial Aid information and coordinating the compiling of data for various financial-aid programs. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institutional policy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Processes and reviews student aid applications to determine financial need, accuracy, and completeness.
Packages awards according to eligibility and regulations.
Meets with students and parents concerning the Financial Aid process, type, deadlines, and procedures.
Completes and sends various Financial Aid forms and documents when requested.
Assists in compiling institutional, state, and federal Financial Aid reports and rosters.
Attends workshops, webinars, and follows appropriate listservs to keep abreast of new regulations.
Prepares award letters for students receiving Financial Aid, disburses Financial Aid, records and submits documentation to the student accounts office, as necessary.
Monitors student enrollment to verify loan eligibility requirements are being met to continue eligibility for Financial Aid.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of student Financial Aid programs, standards, and procedures.
Knowledge of principles and practices of money management.
Ability to review and evaluate student financial needs and prepare appropriate Financial Aid packages.
Ability to disseminate information orally and in writing.
Ability to collect, analyze, compile, and record data on Financial Aid.
Minimum Requirements:
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree with a major in general business or a related field; plus one year of experience in student Financial Aid or a related area.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 2 years experience in Financial Aid, registrar, admissions, or student accounts.
Customer service experience, strong interpersonal, and computer skills.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with Banner software.
