About the Role
The Data Analyst position will manage and interpret data to support the execution and delivery of insurance products and services by delivering dashboards and detailed reports to ensure a better understanding of business results.
Description of Ideal Candidate
- The individual will demonstrate an understanding of corporate finance areas, including revenue streams, expenses, cash flows, and capital.
- Individual will be able to interpret and analyze results from data extractions to identify patterns and trends, including financial results.
- Familiar with relational database development and administration and data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
- The Individual will have superior problem-solving and critical thinking skills and excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- The Individual will be able to prioritize and manage workflow and meet deadlines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain reports and dashboards.
- Build and maintain data warehouse, new, and ad hoc reports.
- Perform analysis on product performance metrics (loss ratio, frequency, severity, hit ratio, retention, etc.)
- Prepare important, timely, and accurate regulatory data submissions for the organization.
- Develop reports and dashboards for use across the organization, collecting feedback and partnering with users to understand and deliver usable information.
- Perform competitive pricing analysis, creating and leveraging large data sets.
- Participate in the setup and testing of a new data and analytics platform.
- Prepare monthly key performance metrics scorecard.
- Synthesize current business trend data to support recommendations for action.
- Provide analytical support by creating reports and applications to further drive data-driven decision-making.
- Reconcile commission reports from carriers and develop detailed producer commission reports.
- Utilize, rebuild, and improve current reporting infrastructure (MS Access, SQL, Excel, etc.) to utilize innovative technology and efficiencies.
- Prepare ad-hoc reporting and applications for various functional areas within the organization.
- Generate standard or custom reports summarizing business, financial, or economic data for review by executives, managers, or other stakeholders.
- Uses data analysis and interpretation to develop conclusions and make recommendations, support decision-making, and identify trends and emerging issues.
Skills and Abilities
- Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel, SQL, and business intelligent platforms such as Power BI.
- Exceptional quantitative analytic capabilities.
- Ability to extract and collect large data sets from and into various sources and formats.
- Ability to apply proper data research methods and procedures.
- Ability to identify data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and redundancies by analyzing content, structure, and relationships within data.
Employment Experience Qualification
Minimum
- 2-3 years of experience in corporate financial data analysis, modeling, and reporting.
- Proven ability to analyze data and discover trends.
- Proficient in Excel and QuickBooks.
Preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in corporate financial data analysis, modeling, and reporting in the Insurance Industry.
Educational Qualification Requirements
Minimum
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Finance, Statistics, Business or related field.
Preferred
Master’s degree in any of the fields listed above.
Work Environment
This position worked in a fast-paced office environment. It will require the ability to sit for extended periods and handle long periods of screen time and repetitive keyboard functions. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
