Purpose of Role
The department of Visual and Performing Arts in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education at Daemen University invites applicants to apply for an Instructor position to teach in the Graphic Design undergraduate program. The Visual and Performing Arts Department focuses on developing strong conceptual and formal visual communication skills. Expectations include teaching four classes a semester that include undergraduate studio and lecture courses (9 month teaching contract); participating in innovative teaching and curriculum development to ensure students are gaining relevant professional skills; career advising and mentoring undergraduate students; and participating in professional organizations important to the field of Graphic Design.
About This Opportunity
Joining our Visual and Performing Arts team, the Instructor of Graphic Design will be responsible for the following:
Understanding current and emerging trends in Graphic Design education and contemporary practice such as: Typography, Information Design, Experiential Design, Systems Design, Interactive Design, Web Design, AI, UX design and Motion Design. Candidates should be qualified to teach throughout the curriculum and on all levels. The candidate should be well versed in both the traditional print side of Graphic Design and the digital side. Ideal candidates will possess the ability to provide leadership and vision in integrating emerging media applications into the Graphic Design curriculum. We are seeking an individual who has the ability and interest in contributing to a community committed to student-centeredness; professional development and scholarship; integrity and ethics; respect, diversity, and pluralism; innovation and flexibility; and teamwork and collaboration.
Required Qualifications
MFA in Graphic Design or a graduate degree in a related field of study with a minimum of two years professional experience in Graphic Design and/or a related design field. Candidates should be able to demonstrate proficiency in Graphic Design theory and practice as well as expertise in Graphic Design across traditional and emerging media.

- Provide a PDF or a link to a website with a portfolio presenting at least fifteen examples of professional work.
