Provides quality instruction that will contribute to the learning experiences necessary for each student to meet the objectives of Graphic Design courses and to be successful in both their education and career development experiences.
Essential Duties
- Instructs students in a classroom, lab, learning center, or other setting as appropriate, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of typographic fundamentals, page layout, and/or corporate and personal branding.
- Offers guidance and mentorship to students, helping them explore their creative potential and develop their artistic voices. Holds regular office hours.
- Contributes to the development and enhancement of the Graphic Design curricula, ensuring alignment with industry production standards and concept development.
- Creates a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement, participation, and collaboration.
- Designs, administers, and evaluates assignments, projects, and examinations to accurately assess student learning outcomes.
- Provides constructive feedback to students on their work, guiding them toward improvement and growth in their photographic skills.
- Remains current on advancements in professional software and related technologies to incorporate relevant industry updates into teaching.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, digital media, or related field
Experience/Training:
- Proficiency with professional design software including Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop & Acrobat
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Graphic Design, digital Media, or a related field
- Experience with print/production hardware such as wide format printers, laser cutters, and plotter/cutter equipment
- Experience teaching at the college level or equivalent professional teaching
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with and inspire a diverse student body
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate varying learning styles and skill levels
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in a normal office environment and classroom setting. Classes may be held during daytime and evening to accommodate student schedules.
Salary
Salary placement will be based on applicable education and/or years of relevant full-time equivalent experience at the sole discretion of the College, per the guidelines in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. Please include all relevant education and full and part-time experience in your application that you want the College to review towards potential placement. Hired employees will not have an opportunity to update past education and/or experience or appeal initial placement after the time of hire.
