Minimum Hiring Annual Salary:

$50,839.00

 

Maximum Hiring Annual Salary:

$70,837.00

 

To attain the maximum hiring amount employee must have:

  • Liberal Arts or Developmental Education Faculty Position: applicable Masters degree plus 36 credits (or an applicable terminal degree), plus 10 years of applicable work experience.
  • Career Technical Education (CTE) Faculty Position: applicable Masters degree, plus 10 years of applicable work experience.

Job Description:

Full-Time, Faculty, 9-month Academic position – Automotive Faculty. This is a Full-Time, tenure-track, benefited Faculty position beginning Fall Semester, 2023.
The faculty member will conduct their assignments and co-curricular college activities in a manner consistent with the philosophy and purpose of Aims Community College as stated in the school catalog. The primary purpose of the faculty member is to teach. The faculty member is also responsible for scholarly and creative activities (professional development), and service to the college.
Primary responsibility is to instruct Automotive Service Technology courses:

  1. Teach classes on a morning, afternoon, evening, weekend, and/or combined schedule as assigned. In addition to participating in institutional/department recruiting and retention activities, duties will also include advising new and returning students through the occupational Certificates and AAS Degree Programs including the Ford ASSET Program.
  2. Develop and/or modify curriculum as necessary to meet the changing technology of the Automotive Service repair and management field.
  3. Assist the program director in the daily operational tasks, including the selection, acquisition, repair, and maintenance of program equipment and facilities.
  4. Participate in department, program, division, and college meetings, activities, and comply with all Aims Community College and ASE Educational Foundation policies and procedures including program certifications.
  5. Involvement by attending classes, seminars, and workshops to stay current in the professional areas of teaching and technical Automotive Service Technology repair is a required activity. Must acquire and track 40 hours of yearly technically specific professional development and training to maintain current and relevant skills and training, including Ford ASSET Program Requirements.
  6. Position will require extensive tasks in regard to meeting area shop owners, shop maintenance, and scheduling as required. AYES/Career Academy/Concurrent Enrollment/SkillUSA and Ford ASSETT and like program coordination and participation involvement is also part of the job required job duties.
  7. Student and prospective student’s interaction and participation in program related activities including recruiting, tours, SkillsUSA, Automotive student clubs, and other activities including the Annual Aims Automotive Car Show are requirements.
  8. Assisting in the Automotive Programs in evaluation and selection, adoption, and acquisition of equipment, textbooks, other resources and materials is necessary as is pricing, bid, and item acquisition. Moving, staging, set up, testing, teardown, inventory, and disposition of, vehicles, equipment, materials, and supplies is a required activity.
  9. Responsible for creating, maintaining instructional materials, and student records such as syllabus, tests, and grades. Implementation of the Aims Community College’s mission statement and goals while completing the department, program, and division goals/directives as assigned is expected.
  10. Retrieval, Inventory, Maintenance, Repair, and Disposal of Aims Automotive Instructional Fleet Vehicles is a required role of this position. This includes the repair of all student instructional lab projects to pre-instructional condition. Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining program vehicles and their condition. Participate in partner organizations and manufacturer trainings, testing, program development, student development, training, program representation, instruction, and testing certification is required as assigned with emphasis, (but not exclusively to), the Ford ASSET Program as designed and designated, with Aims specific nuances, including travel and student offsite interactions and observations. Teaching of stacked or multiple classes or sections at the same time is an understood expectation.
  11. Follow all Program Rules, Regulations, and Standard Operating Practices including Inventory, Shop Controls, Tool Programs, and other Program Requirements.

 

Teaching:

Interacting with students to provide opportunities to learn, creating conditions that facilitate learning, and using techniques and methods that create a high probability that learning will occur. To achieve such interaction, a teacher must possess three basic abilities:

  • Instructional Delivery: those human interactive skills and characteristics that make for clear communication of information, and promote learning through an effective learning environment.
  • Provide effective and high-quality instruction of subject being taught.
  • Apply learning-centered educational practices such as creating and communicating clearly-defined outcomes for student learning.
  • Provide a diverse array of learning activities that directly tie to those defined outcomes.
  • Use assessment data to improve instruction and learning, and participate in an ongoing College-Wide dialogue about teaching and learning.
  • Develop and refine department curriculum as necessary to maintain currency in pedagogy and content

 

Instructional Design Skills:

  • Includes technical skills in designing, sequencing, and presenting experiences which promote student learning, and designing, developing, and implementing tools and procedures and procedures for assessing student-learning.
  • Use and develop appropriate computer-based technologies, including online instruction to promote student learning.
  • Design, develop and implement tools and procedures for assessing student-learning outcomes.
  • Adopt new teaching methodologies as appropriate.
    Collaborate in the development and implementation of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments of learning for students.

 

Professional Obligations:

  • Implement department, division, and/or institutional goals as assigned.
  • Maintain office hours, turn in grades on time, meet assigned classes.
  • Perform advising duties.
  • Submits course syllabi and other required documents on time.
  • Manages the classroom facility.
  • Keeps accurate attendance and grade records.
  • Meets other professional obligations as stated in the Faculty Annual Plan and Evaluation.

 

Scholarly and Creative Activities (Professional Development):

Those endeavors related to a faculty member’s teaching assignment that contribute to the discovery, dissemination, and practical application of knowledge and/or skill. The activities that may be required, as appropriate to the faculty member’s teaching assignment, include the following:

  • Acquire and/or maintain certification.
  • Attend conferences, workshops, and/or training appropriate to one’s field.
  • Complete coursework related to one’s teaching assignment.
  • Create teaching methodology and instructional design.
  • Other activities that contribute to keeping current in the content field.

 

Service Helping:

Helpingthe college to meet the goals and objectives of its mission and strategic plan. The activities that may be required, as appropriate to the faculty member’s teaching assignment, include the following:

  • Provide competent advising to students seeking AAS, AS, and/or AA Degrees and program certificates.
  • Fulfill College service requirements by making meaningful contributions on campus and/or to community service groups.
  • Participate in institutional and departmental recruitment and retention activities. Assist in the evaluation and selection of textbooks and other resources and materials in one’s assigned area.
  • Serve on department, division, and institutional committees.
  • Assist in program and curriculum review, revision, and the development and assessment of learning.
  • Maintain classrooms and/or labs.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to embrace and apply the provisions of the College’s mission statement, purpose, philosophy and commitment to diversity.
