The Department of Health and Human Physiology is seeking an Instructional Services Coordinator
The Instructional Services Coordinator will work with faculty on preparations, including ordering and preparing laboratory materials and equipment anatomy, physiology, and Health and exercise laboratory courses. This position will include assisting faculty in the training and evaluation of teaching assistants and the development and testing of new laboratory protocols, along with revising existing lab teaching materials and maintaining adherence to laboratory safety protocols.
Department Overview:
The Department of Health and Human Physiology offers undergraduate majors, minors, a certificate, and graduate degree programs in Health and Human Physiology and in sport and recreation management. The department administers the Certificate in Disability Studies and collaborates with other departments to offer the Certificate in Event Management, as well as offering coaching authorization courses. In addition, the department is home to the Health and Physical Activity Skills Program (HPAS), which offers courses that provide instruction and practice in lifetime sports, fitness training, and wellness activities aimed at enhancing physical Health and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with faculty and lab coordinators to develop new laboratory exercises and revise/update existing exercises.
Prepare or help prepare example specimens for laboratory demonstrations.
Assist in evaluating student learning outcomes and proposing changes to improve outcomes.
Attend and participate in weekly meetings for each of the lab groups.
Coordinate preparation and setup of human and animal specimens needed for lab instruction; prepare specialized equipment and technology for lab use.
Evaluate teaching assistants' teaching and provide feedback.
Create and maintain inventory of materials and equipment, including ordering supplies and equipment.
Follow all lab safety protocols and relevant local, state, and federal guidelines relating to lab safety and proper disposal of lab waste.
Setup and cleanup teaching labs for each lab section.
Work with department administrator to review instructional equipment and related budgets as needed.
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise undergraduate lab assistants as needed.

Education Required:
Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, exercise science, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications:
Laboratory teaching experience in anatomy, physiology, and/or health-related fields.
Experience with computer-based data acquisition and analysis.
Experience in managing programs and services, including implementation, coordination, budgeting, and evaluation.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented service and support work environment.
Must have flexibility in working hours, including some early morning, evening, and weekend work.
Demonstrated conceptual understating and practical knowledge in anatomy, physiology, and health.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience as lead instructor/coordinator in anatomy, physiology, and/or health laboratory courses or experience co-facilitating/co-instructing in such courses.
Experience in working with anatomical specimens and models.
Experience in implementing worksite safety procedures/plans.
Additional education beyond the bachelor's degree level is a plus but not required.
