Position Description

The Department of Marketing, Analytics and Professional Sales (MAPS) in the School of Business Administration at The University of Mississippi invites applications for a faculty position in Marketing at our main campus in Oxford, Mississippi, at the Instructional Assistant or Instructional Associate Professor level. The position is a full-time, nontenure-track position with the School of Business Administration. 

 


Duties: To teach undergraduate courses (predominantly with the possibility of some graduate-level teaching) in Professional Sales and Marketing beginning Fall, 2024.  A successful applicant will be responsible for teaching at the undergraduate level, providing service to the Department, including an administrative role associated with the development and growth of the Ole Miss Business BASE, being engaged with students and student associations, providing service to the University and Profession, and conducting research aimed toward disciplinary peer-reviewed journals and conferences. The normal teaching load for a research-active faculty member is 4/3 (12/9 credit hours per semester, Fall and Spring) with the option to teach intersession, summer courses, and/or online courses for additional pay subject to course and funding availability.  About half of the teaching could be expected to be delivered online.

 


We are particularly interested in candidates experienced in teaching in Professional Sales and business-to-business types of areas.  In particular, experience teaching Professional Sales, sales management, and/or design thinking types of courses will be especially considered.  Our industry partners are very engaged in analytics applied to sales and distribution.  Candidates who can work well with industry partners and possess administrative and relationship management skills and experience also are preferred.  Engagement with student associations like Pi Sigma Epsilon is also a plus. Knowledge of the regional business community is also preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this position, the applicant must have an earned doctorate degree in Marketing or Professional Sales from an AACSB-accredited business program. 

 

Applicants should possess strong evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching, service, and scholarship. Excellent oral communication skills are essential in this position. Candidates should show evidence of meeting the SOBA undergraduate AACSB standard for Scholarly Academics (SA) (at least two peer-reviewed journal publications in a five-year period).
